We talked about people trying to deceive you, now let’s talk about you deceiving others. Most people believe they don’t try to deceive anyone, because a little white lie doesn’t hurt. That little white lie does hurt someone, it hurts you because a little white lie is still a lie. Proverbs 18:20,21 You will have to live with the consequences of everything you say. What you say can preserve life or destroy it; so you must accept the consequences of your words. You got to be careful of the Words you say to people and not try to walk around the truth which is the same thing as misleading or deceiving them. Why do people lie? It’s because most people want others to see them as special or important or someone with knowledge and wisdom. The definition of Pride: the consciousness of one’s own dignity. The quality of having an excessively high opinion of oneself or one’s importance.’ I Corinthians 3:18 No one should fool himself. If anyone among you thinks that he is wise by this world’s standards, he should become a fool, in order to be really wise. Galatians 6:3 If someone thinks he or she is somebody when really they are nobody, they are only deceiving themselves. Romans 12:16 Have the same concern for everyone. Do not be proud, but accept humble duties. Do not think of yourselves as wise.
Proverbs 16:18 Pride leads to destruction, and arrogance to downfall. Mark 7:20-23 And he went on to say, “It is what comes out of a person that makes him unclean. For from the inside, from a person’s heart, come the evil ideas which lead him to do immoral things, to rob, kill, commit adultery, be greedy, and do all sorts of evil things; deceit, indecency, jealousy, slander, pride, and folly—–all these evil things come from inside a person and make him unclean.
We need to remember everything we do should honor God, and if we do something good don’t pat yourself on the back give God the Glory and Praise because He is the one who gives you the wisdom and knowledge. Colossians 3:17 Everything you do or say, than, should be done in the name of the Lord Jesus, as you give thanks through him to God the Father. 1 Corinthians 10:31 Well, whatever you do, whether you eat or drink, do it all for God’s glory.
