We as believers are suppose to Praise the Lord, by lifting up our hands and with our mouth. The definition of Praising is, to express warm approval or admiration of. to express one’s respect and gratitude toward, especially in song. The definition of clapping is to show approval of (a person or action). When we Praise the Lord we don’t clap our hands we lift them up as we sing Praises to the Lord. You clap your hands to music, and to show your approval of the person or action. Clapping your hands isn’t Praising the Lord. There are churches that are teaching their members to give the Lord a clap Praise. No where in the Bible tells us to give the Lord a clap Praise. I will give you a few scriptures, that shows us how to Praise the Lord.
Psalms 47:1 Clap your hands for joy, all peoples! Praise God with loud songs! (This verse isn’t saying to clap your hands to Praise the Lord. It’s talking about clapping your hands with music, but the next sentence tells us to Praise God with songs.) verse 6, 7 Sing praise to God; sing praise to our king! God is king over all the world; praise him with songs!
Psalms 109: 30 I will give loud thanks to the Lord, I will praise him in the assembly of the people, (This verse is telling us it’s ok to Praise the Lord out loud in church)
Psalms 134: 1,2 Come, praise the Lord, all his servants, all who serve in his Temple at night. Raise your hands in prayer in the Temple, and praise the Lord! (This verse is telling us to Raise our hands in church and praise the Lord)
Psalms 146: 1,2 Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, my soul! I will praise him as long as I live; I will sing to my God all my life.
Psalms 150: 3-6 Praise him with trumpets. Praise him with harps and lyres. Praise him with drums and dancing. Praise him with harps and flutes. Praise him with cymbals. Praise the Lord, all living creatures! Praise the Lord! ( Its ok to use musical instruments to sing praises to the Lord, and it’s ok to dance while praising the Lord) Also, Psalms 149:3
Psalms 147: 1 Praise the Lord! It is good to sing praise to our God; it is pleasant and right to praise him.
